For January 2023, JRC is Giving Back to the DASCH Foundation.
DASCH is a non-profit organization established in 1974 dedicated to exploring and meeting the residential, day program, respite and foster care needs of children, youth and adults. They are proud to support people with intellectual disabilities, including but not exclusive to people with Down syndrome, Autism and Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, living in over 50 homes throughout Winnipeg.
Since the movement from institutionalization to community living evolved, various advocacy groups like DASCH have made significant strides in empowering our society's otherwise historically overlooked population.
DASCH is committed to enhancing and uplifting the lives of the people it supports through education, awareness, understanding and the highest degree of respect for all.
At DASCH, more than 200 people with intellectual disabilities have access to different programs and services, including the Community Living Program; Day Programs; Specialized Support and Resource Services; Indigenous Culture and Spiritual Enhancement; Multi-Cultural programming and DASCHWorks, a vocational training program.
The DASCH Foundation is a registered charity whose goal is to raise funds to ensure DASCH can continue to provide people with the highest possible standard of care regardless of potential changes in the future, government funding or other unforeseen developments.
Throughout the month of January, purchase cupcakes in-store at Academy, Island Lakes or The Forks, through SkipTheDishes, or online, and 5% of all sales will be donated to the DASCH foundation.

Together, we can help build and inspire a community of inclusion where people with intellectual disabilities are valued and enabled to live to their full potential.
