JRC Gives Back - September 2022

For September 2022, JRC is Giving Back to Clan Mothers!

In 2015, a collective of Indigenous women came together to solve the ongoing systemic, multi-generational trauma in their communities. With decades of experience working with thousands of women and girls, this group of Clan Mothers set out to build a village to create healing through collaboration and understanding. As an outcropping of that vision, an Indigenous-led solution – Clan Mothers Healing Village – came to life.
Clan Mothers is committed to the creation of a contemporary, sustainable Healing Village governed by a distinctive Indigenous council. Their Healing Village will provide mid-term to long-term support to women who have been victims of multi-generational systemic trauma, sexual violence, sexual exploitation, and human trafficking to help them begin their healing journey.

The heart and spirit of the Village is the resurgence of Indigenous methodologies and world views to heal the most important beings in communities across Canada, the mothers and daughters of the next generation.

Clan Mothers has 4 guiding principles that are the foundation of their mission and vision: Culturally safe environments, Indigenous world views, Creating sustainable change and Indigenous self-determination
The Healing Village concept is unique in this country because no other organization is addressing the needs of Indigenous women using a matrilineal focus, community living, and a commitment to use Indigenous holistic healing methodologies with social innovation. The Clan Mother’s Healing Village concept is much more than a “safe house”. Clan Mothers is focused on healing, learning, and developing skills in a holistic village that will assist the women when they leave the centre.
Throughout the month of September, purchase cupcakes in-store at Academy, Island Lakes or The Forks, through SkipTheDishes, or online and 5% of all sales will be donated to Clan Mothers!
