A note from Jenna, Ashley and Trevor:
These last few days have felt surreal, to say the least. On Saturday, March 28th, Jenna Rae Cakes will be celebrating its sixth birthday. It is heartbreaking to know that we won’t be able to celebrate it with the staff, friends, families, and customers, who have enabled us to succeed over these past six years. Instead of celebrating, it is with incredibly heavy hearts that we announce our decision to temporarily close the doors to our Academy location as of 6pm on Saturday, March 21st, 2020.
Our number one priority is, and always will be, our staff and our customers. After exploring many different ways for us to keep our doors open during this scary and volatile time, we ultimately decided that the safest decision we could make was to ask everyone to stay home and ride this out with their families and loved ones.
We employ 32 incredibly dedicated, talented, and wonderful people, who constantly give so much of themselves to this business every single day. Our business is only as good as the people who work with us, and we know that our current staff are the best group of people we’ve ever had the pleasure of employing, and we truly mean that.
We are devastated to have to shut our doors, and temporarily close the business that we’ve spent the last decade building. We will come back as soon as it is safe to do so, and will come back stronger than ever. We will miss you, but we will see you all again very soon. While we may be missing our sixth birthday celebration, it will only make our seventh birthday celebration that much sweeter.
In the meantime, we’ll be posting colourful sweet treats as always to help brighten your day on Instagram. Our Easter Pre-Orders will remain open, as we will have curbside pick up available for that weekend. If you have pick-up orders placed for the next two weeks, we’ll be in touch with you shortly. Our online store will not be closing, as we will continue to ship our Macarons, Cotton Candy Flavouring, JRC apparel, and Charleston and Harlow candles across the country. We are currently looking into delivery services and will do our best to be up and running again as soon as possible.
To our fellow entrepreneurs who are facing the same struggles and decisions that we are; stay strong. Stay open if you need to stay open, close if you need to close. Everybody’s situation is unique, and there is no easy or definitive answer. Do what you have to do. We support you and encourage everyone to keep supporting small businesses through these difficult times.
Stay safe, stay healthy. We love you.
